This quiz looks at how you connect in close relationships and where that places you among four attachment styles. It's built on the two dimensions that researchers actually study, so you get a clear read instead of a vague label. You'll see your result the moment you finish, no email required.
Attachment research maps how we bond in close relationships onto two dimensions. The first is attachment anxiety, or how much you fear being abandoned and look for reassurance. The second is attachment avoidance, or how much closeness makes you uneasy and pushes you toward self-reliance. Where you fall on each one places you in one of four styles: secure, anxious-preoccupied, dismissive-avoidant, and fearful-avoidant. This two-dimension model grew out of work by psychologists like Hazan, Shaver, and Bartholomew, building on the classic attachment theory of Bowlby and Ainsworth. In large US samples, roughly 60 percent of adults come out secure. Attachment style is not fixed, though, and it can shift over time as your relationships and circumstances change. Treat this as a mirror for self-reflection, not a diagnosis.
