Career Quiz: What Career Should I Do?

Thirty quick questions about the work you'd actually enjoy, sorted into the six interest areas career counselors have used for decades.

No sign-up. No email. Your answers stay on your device.

This career quiz asks what kind of work you'd enjoy, not what you already happen to be good at. It sorts your answers into six interest areas, the RIASEC model, and shows which ones pull at you the most. You get your result the moment you finish, along with example jobs that tend to fit.

What this quiz looks at

The six interest areas here come from the RIASEC model, sometimes called Holland codes after John Holland, the psychologist who developed them: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional. Your top three form a short code, such as SAE, that captures the kind of work you gravitate toward. The interest markers behind this approach are public domain and come from O*NET, the career database the US Department of Labor maintains, along with its Interest Profiler. The items in this quiz are original, written in that same spirit.

Realistic
Hands-on work with tools, machines, and the outdoors.
Investigative
Digging into ideas, research, and analysis.
Artistic
Creating, designing, and expressing yourself.
Social
Helping, teaching, and caring for other people.
Enterprising
Leading, persuading, and selling.
Conventional
Organizing data, records, and systems.

Good questions

People often ask

What is a Holland code?+

A Holland code is a short summary of your work interests, usually the top three of six areas: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional. Someone who scores highest on Social, Artistic, and Enterprising would have the code SAE. It is a quick way to describe the kind of work that tends to suit you.

Will this tell me exactly what job to pick?+

No, and be a little wary of any quiz that claims it can. This test points you toward the interest areas that fit you and lists example jobs for each, but the right job also depends on your skills, your values, and your circumstances. Treat the result as a strong starting point for your own research, not the final word.

Is the career quiz free?+

Yes, completely. There is no paywall, no sign-up, and no email required. You answer the questions and read your result.

How long does the career quiz take?+

About seven minutes. There are 30 short questions, one screen at a time, and your result appears the second you answer the last one.

Do you store my answers?+

No. Everything is scored in your browser, so your answers stay on your device and are never sent to a server.

This quiz is for self-reflection and curiosity, not clinical assessment. Treat your result as a mirror to think with, not a label or a diagnosis.
